There was
much to see in this historical town with national parks and gorgeous waterways
all around. Our first stop was a paper-bark forest boardwalk. It was well
signed and a fairly easy and short walk although there were some spots which
required a little balancing….not my strong point. Anyway we were half way
through this lovely walk when Rob thought he noticed an unusual “stick”. Then
he realised it was moving. It was a very long and well-fed brown snake! Some
young women were behind us and we told them about what we’d just seen and so
they said they would stay behind us. Rob led the way and we just made sure we
made lots of noise! From here we did a beautiful walk along the beach to
Springs Beach and then some climbing up to Rocky Point. Following this we
returned back to Agnes Waters main beach. This beach was patrolled and there
were many people swimming and surfing. This is a popular area to learn to surf
and stand-up paddle-board. We found a nice café for coffee before heading back
to the caravan for lunch. Later in the afternoon, Rob dropped me and the kayak
off at the huge tidal area of Round Hill Creek to do some exploring while he
went back to the van to do a few jobs. I enjoyed my paddle and Rob returned
around sunset and we both enjoyed the stunning sunset. We have been told the
1770 is only one of 3 locations on the east coast that has sun sets over the
sea, thence lots of sunset photos.
