After
breakfast today we all set off in the Toyota to drive along the beach from
Tewantin (North Noosa) to Rainbow Beach. We stopped at a ranger station to
purchase the required permit before taking the ferry over to the beach. Rob let the air out of the tyres before we
drove on the sand. We all really enjoyed the drive of about 70 kms along the
beach. Rob did a wonderful job driving and all went very well. There were many
groups camped at various spots on the beach and we saw quite a few people
fishing and searching for worms and cockles. Rob even spotted one fisherman
carrying a flathead back to his camp. We passed some of the beautiful rainbow
cliffs before arriving safely at the small town of Rainbow Beach. Here we all
had a delicious lunch at the Surf Life-Saving Club. Rob and I enjoyed a
barramundi dish. From here we drove down to Inskip Point. Here we could easily
see Fraser Island and the barge that takes the vehicles across to Fraser
Island. It is so close from here that I think on a nice day I would be able to
kayak to the island. There are many sheltered, comfortable camping spots at
Inskip Point and one day we may bring the caravan here. We returned to our home
on the main road, travelling through Gympie.
