Yes we are
still here! Originally we thought we would leave last Monday but we keep
finding fabulous places to visit and great things to do and since we have 6
star accommodation…why not! We(Lesley, Trev, Bev, Rob and I) were up and ready
quite early this morning as we had booked a Wilderness cruise that was due to
start at 9am and was about a 40 minute drive away. Our eco cruise started from
a place called Elandra Point. Our comfortable boat took us across Lake
Cootharaba before entering Australia’s Everglades. Our guide was excellent,
very informative and humorous. We stopped at a place called Fig Tree point and
did a lovely walk through the rainforest. Here some of our group transferred to
canoes and started to canoe up through the everglades to our next stop. We
enjoyed the relaxing and beautiful cruise on to the next stop, the historical Harry’s
Hut. The hut was once used by the loggers and was then used by “Harry” as a
holiday shack. He donated the hut and the land which is now a national park
back to the government. At “Harry’s Hut” we were treated to morning tea, while
the first group of canoeists swapped over with a second group from our boat.
Our return journey to Fig Tree Point was just as peaceful and stunning. Here we
collected the canoeists and returned to our starting point at Habitat Noosa. We
then were given a delicious pork roast lunch. This area has excellent facilities
for caravans, tents, glamping, cabins, etc. and both Rob and I thought it would
be a fabulous place to stay when we return to this area. We returned back to
our fabulous accommodation but headed out again just before sunset. We went to
place close to the main part of Noosa Beach, which our morning guide had told us
about. It gave us a great view of the sunset. Rob then drove us up to a lookout
close to Noosa. Although the sun had set we still had stunning views of Noosa
and the surrounds with the lights of the town, coming on.
