We were very
sad to leave our luxurious accommodation near Eumundi and also to say goodbye
to Lesley, Bev and Trev. They had been such great company and we’d thoroughly
enjoyed going out on various excursions with them. We had only intended to stay for maybe 3 days
but it became a full week! Anyway it was time to move on and explore further
north. We were heading for Agnes Waters and the town of 1770. On the way we
stopped for lunch at a lovely picnic area called Smithy’s Crossing, located on
the banks of a river. Three geese joined us for lunch and we watched a
water-truck filling up with water from the river. We arrived at Agnes Waters, 1770
mid-afternoon and after setting up, headed out to do some exploring. This area
is very beautiful, quiet and natural. It seems to be a bit of a secret and not
as developed as some of the more well-known towns in Queensland. They say it is
nearly as pristine as when Captain Cook sailed into this area, to rest his ship
the Endeavour, in 1770. We found some stunning spots and look forward to
exploring more of this area tomorrow. The weather is warm and perfect for
kayaking so this will probably be on the program.
