We were on
the road early this morning and our first stop was only about 100 metres down
the road from the Condobolin Caravan Park. Here, there is a fantastic display
of old farm utes, all painted with different themes, many of them quirky and
humorous. Only in Australia would you find such a display. We wandered along
the path laughing at many of them. It appears that they are constantly being
up-graded and added to. We were glad we made the effort to come out to this
tiny little town. We continued on with our driving until we arrived in the town
of Parkes. We wanted to visit the famous dish and due to this being the 50th
anniversary of man landing on the moon there was quite a bit happening. The
display in the visitor information centre was excellent and we enjoyed morning
tea at the café with the dish in the back-ground. Reading the information, it
seems that the movie “The Dish” was pretty close to what really happened during
the moon landing. We also went and saw a fabulous 3D theatre presentation which
featured some amazing and beautiful pictures of space. From here we drove on to
Bathurst. We are staying here for three nights as there seems quite a bit to
see and do here.
PS Especially for you again Kingsley, lovely art work and descriptions.
